Odisha Vigilance raid on junior clerk, search continues at 3 locations
In Balasore district, Odisha Vigilance conducted a raid on Junior Clerk Laxmi Narayan Nath, an employee at the Office of the Addl. Sub-Collector, Settlement, Balasore. Currently, searches are ongoing at three different locations.
Nath was apprehended for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 4,000/- from a complainant in exchange for providing a certified copy of the Yadas Sabak record related to the settlement of his paternal land, registered under his father’s name.
Initially demanding Rs. 5,000/- as a bribe, Nath was caught by the Vigilance team while accepting Rs. 4,000/-. The entire bribe amount was recovered from Nath and confiscated.
Subsequent to the operation, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations linked to Nath in Balasore district, investigating potential Disproportionate Assets (DA).
A case (Balasore Vigilance PS Case No. 32 dt.30.11.2023) under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation into Nath’s actions as a Junior Clerk is ongoing, with further details pending.
