Odisha: Woman gives birth on road in Kandhamal as ambulance hits tree
Kandhamal: A woman was forced to give birth on road in Kandhamal district of Odisha as the ambulance she was traveling in hit a tree on Monday.
The accident happened while taking a woman who was suffering from labor pains to the hospital. The Janni Express crashed into a tree. Hence, the pregnant woman gave birth at the accident site before reaching the medical center.
The incident took place in Firingia block area of Kandhamal district. The woman has been identified as Shubhdra Behera of Jayeshpanga village of Firingia Block.
She was immediately being taken to the Firingia Community Health Center (CHC) by the Janni Express when the accident occurred. It is worth mentioning that in the middle of the journey, the axle of the Janni Express broke. As a result, the vehicle hit a tree on the side of the road.
Although no one was seriously injured, the vehicle was badly damaged. Meanwhile, due to heavy rain, Subhadra was forced to give birth on the spot with the help of local people and some women. Shubhadra gave birth to a baby girl.
Later, 108 ambulance came and took the mother and the newborn baby to Firangia Community Health Center (CHC). Now both of them are in stable health.
