old man jumped into the river to escape from the train, death

Kamrup. An old man died in Rangiya area of Assam’s Kamrup (Rural) district when he jumped from a bridge to a river to escape a train. Police said on Sunday that an old man jumped into the river to escape the train over the railway bridge built on the Barlia river in Rangiya, due to which he died on the spot. Suddenly after seeing the train the old man jumped down from the bridge to save his life.

As soon as the news of the incident was received, the Railway Police team reached the spot, took the body of the dead person in their custody and sent it to the hospital for postmortem. The dead person could not be identified. Police is investigating the matter by registering an FIR in this regard.
