Chaitra Shukla Pratipada Gudi Padwa was also celebrated with great pomp in Jyotirlinga Mahakal temple today. During this time, the priests welcomed the new year by offering Arghya to the Sun at Kotitirtha Kund. After this, Baba Mahakal was bathed with Neem water and Panchamrit Pujan Abhishek was performed. Neem-mishri sherbet was offered to the Lord by the priests. After this Prasad will be distributed to the devotees. A new flag was also installed on the peak of the temple today in the Mahakal temple.
Priest Pt. Mahesh Sharma told that this tradition is also there in Jyotirlinga Mahakal temple. Which is followed from time to time. Seasonal change occurs in the month of Chaitra when the Hindu New Year begins from Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. This month marks the beginning of summer. Due to its effect vata, phlegm and bile increases. It causes many diseases. Consumption of Neem is important for the treatment of Vata, Kapha and Pitta. Even in Ayurveda, consumption of Neem Mishri has been described as nectar. Skin diseases are cured by bathing with neem water. Therefore, in the tradition of Jyotirlinga, the message of sense of time, importance of dates and staying healthy is given to the whole world through Ayurveda. Therefore, on this day Lord Mahakal is bathed with water containing neem. Also Neem water is distributed as Prasad to the devotees.

In the world famous Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple today, on Tuesday, the first date of Chaitra Shukla Paksha, during the Bhasma Aarti at 4 am, Pandey priest worshiped all the idols of God installed in the sanctum sanctorum and performed Jalabhishek. Lord Mahakal was worshiped with Panchamrit made from milk, curd, ghee, sugar and fruit juice. After this, Hariom water was first offered by playing bells and gongs. After Kapoor Aarti, Baba Mahakal was given a silver crown and a garland of Rudraksha and flowers. The special thing about today’s adornment was that today Baba Mahakal was adorned in a different form in Ekam Bhasmarti. In which Baba Mahakal was decorated with hemp and dry fruits. After the adornment, the Jyotirlinga of Baba Mahakal was covered with a cloth and Jalabhishek was performed. A large number of devotees participated in the Bhasma Aarti, who received blessings after seeing this divine form of Baba Mahakal.
