Tamil Nadu: In Aduthurai, petrol was sold at ₹50 per liter on Republic Day.

Ahead of Republic Day, Mohanasundaram, the owner of an Indian Oil petrol pump in Aduthurai, near Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district, had announced that anyone riding a two-wheeler while wearing a helmet would get petrol at ₹50 per liter between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM on January 26th.

Accordingly, at 9:30 AM today, more than 500 people were seen lined up on their two-wheelers, all wearing helmets, to fill up their tanks.

Following this, saplings were distributed to everyone.

This caused a brief disruption in the area. Later, the police department also intervened to manage the situation.
