One person arrested with heroin
The Police District Criminal Unit (DCC) has arrested a person with 15.32 grams of heroin. The suspect identified as Jeevan Singh Gill (41), resident of Sector 40, was arrested from Sector 45 with drugs. Police said he used to supply drugs by posing as a food deliveryman. A case was registered in Sector 34 police station. Police said Jeevan was earlier booked in two NDPS cases.
Car theft from Dhanas
Chandigarh: Pradeep Yadav, who lives in a small apartment in Dhanas, has lodged a complaint with the police that an unknown person has stolen his car parked near his house. Police have registered a case at Sarangpur police station and started investigation.
Fit India Week in PU campus
Chandigarh: Sports Authority of India (SAI) in collaboration with Directorate of Sports, Panjab University celebrated Fit India Week on the campus. Professor Jatinder Grover, Dean, Student Welfare, was the chief guest along with Lalit Lohani, Deputy Director, SAI Regional Centre, Zirakpur. On this occasion, a gymnastics performance was organized by a group of young gymnasts. Senior Badminton Coach (SAI) Manju Ghai presented the vote of thanks.
Congratulations to the medal winners
Panchkula: British School celebrated Sports Day at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector 3. An award ceremony was organized to congratulate the school players who won medals in various national and international competitions. School children also held a parade.
Annual sports day is organized
Chandigarh: Pre-school wing of St. Soldier International School, Sector 28 participated in the Annual Sports Day. Medals and awards were presented by Colonel JS Narang (Retd), war veteran and founder administrator of the school.
Tanish won gold medal in the annual meeting
Chandigarh: Tanish Sharma, Arshit and Anhad secured the first three positions (120 meters race) respectively in the annual athletics competition of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Sector 44. In the women’s event, Geet topped, Iknoor came second and Vanshika came third. In the 100 meter race, Aditya, Harmeet and Harsh won medals, while in the women’s category, Samaira, Prabhleen and Angel performed excellently.
school celebrates sports day
MOHALI: The annual sports day of Lawrence Public Higher Secondary School was held on Saturday. Akashpreet Singh, Avneer Singh and Guneet Singh secured the top three positions in the flat race respectively, while Hetash won the shuttle race, followed by Ranfateh at second and Stalinveer at third. In the Chatti race, Hargun Kaur stood first and Gurnoor Kaur and Tamanjot Kaur stood second and third respectively.
Local judoka wins gold medal
Chandigarh: Local judoka Divanshi Miglani won gold medal in the ongoing National Sub-Junior Judo Championship in Kerala. The 14-year-old student of Kundan International School, Sector 47, won her sixth national gold medal. He is being trained under the guidance of coach Vivek Thakur at Sector 34 Sports Complex.
