One woman died, two injured due to stone falling from the mountain on the Amarnath Yatra route
Srinagar (IANS). A woman hiker was killed and two local policemen were injured when a rock fell on the road leading to the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Sunday.
Police sources said that one of the deceased woman pilgrims has been identified as 53-year-old Urmilaben. Besides, two local policemen of the rescue team, identified as Muhammad Salim and Muhammad Yasin, were injured when they were hit by stones.
“An attempt was made to rescue all three, but the woman pilgrim succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital, while two policemen were rescued by the army and taken to the hospital in a private helicopter,” sources said.
J&K DGP Dilbag Singh condoled the death of the woman passenger and lauded those who rescued the two policemen and rushed them to the hospital.
The police chief has lauded the gallantry and devotion to duty of both the policemen and prayed for their speedy recovery.
