The 84th Foundation Day of South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry was organized in Surat on 21st October under the SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84 Project under New Ideas, New Direction and New Journey. On this occasion, Union Minister of India Parshottambhai Rupala launched the online international portal of Mission 84 project.
Chamber of Commerce President Ramesh Vaghasia gave a detailed presentation under the SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84 project. He honored Union Minister Parshottambhai Rupala by giving him a certificate. The 84th foundation day of the Chamber of Commerce was celebrated by cutting the cake with the former presidents in the presence of the Union Minister.
Union Minister Parshottambhai Rupalaji said that no matter how hard the Prime Minister of India tries, he will not be able to move one step forward, but when the people of the entire country will join hands and make efforts, India will move 140 crore steps forward. The Government of India first moved forward with the slogan of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and then Sabka Vishwas and is now moving forward with the slogan of Sabka Prayas. In such a situation, Surat Chamber of Commerce has also started efforts to realize the slogan of Sabka Prayas. Now the time has come to think more about what we have done for the country than what the government has done and Surat Chamber of Commerce has moved forward in that direction.
The country will progress only when everyone has to move in one direction and the Prime Minister of India has brought that time. Now the environment of the whole world has changed. The way the world looks at India has changed. Now 30 countries are dependent on Indian wheat. India is the number one producer of milk in the world, hence there is a need to focus on exports. He said that under Mission 84, the Chamber of Commerce has started logical efforts to increase exports from the country, which is highly commendable. The Government of India stands with the Surat Chamber of Commerce and is committed to removing obstacles in this endeavour.
He said, there is a marketing federation in Israel which does research around the world to find out which country needs which product. Based on this research, farmers in Israel are given production targets. The product is sold even before it is produced by the farmer, hence the Chamber of Commerce can play such a role for the industry. A research wing should be started for that. Studying the entire world will help you understand how much demand there is for a product. If the product is manufactured on the basis of this research, exports will increase and there will be no loss.
We need to increase our strength. Keeping in view the needs of the world, productivity will have to be increased. We have to produce what we import. For this, the Chamber of Commerce needs to keep pace with the government policy. The issues of the industry will have to be brought to the notice of the government in a systematic manner. In the year 2014, shrimp worth Rs 14000 crore were being exported from the country, which has now increased to Rs 40000 crore. He said that prawn from Surat is the most delicious. If the issues of Surat’s Ekwa culture are put before the government through the Chamber of Commerce, then it will definitely be resolved.
Chamber Vice President Vijay Mewawala thanked the surveyors present in the program. The entire program was conducted by Honorary Minister Nikhil Madrasi. Mission 84 coordinator Sanjay Punjabi gave information about the online international portal launched by the Union Minister under Mission 84. Former presidents of the chamber, Rajendra Chokhawala and B.S. Aggarwal delivered a lecture on the occasion. The then former president Himanshu Bodawala, group chairmen Bhavesh Taylor and Kamlesh Gajera, industrialists Dhirubhai Kotdia, Nirav Mandlewala, CA Pradeep Singhi and former chamber presidents were present.
