Only those in uniform are staining ‘Khaki’… Dozens of cases of rape, molestation and blackmailing through obscene videos

Ranchi: Due to the misdeeds of some policemen in Jharkhand, the character of the uniform is getting tainted. In two years, more than a dozen cases of rape, molestation and blackmailing of policemen through obscene videos have come to light.

In two years, Ranchi Police on Thursday evening arrested an Assistant Sub Inspector Neeraj Khosla for raping a 12-year-old girl multiple times and making an obscene video of her. The victim has said in the statement recorded in the court under Section 164 that when her parents went out for work, Neeraj Khosla used to come home and threaten and rape her. Not only this, he had made an obscene video of her and threatened to make it viral. Neeraj Khosla was posted in the police control room in Ranchi.

A few months ago, police jawan Amlesh Kumar was arrested for attempting to rape a 25-year-old married woman who was returning after attending a religious program in Tandwa, Chatra. Inspector Shashank Kumar, posted at Lalpur police station in Ranchi, was accused of sexually exploiting a college student on the pretext of marriage. FIR was lodged against him. He was suspended. A few months ago this inspector committed suicide.

In October last year, two police personnel were arrested for gang rape of a widow woman in Serengdag police station area of Lohardaga district. Earlier, a girl from Mufassil police station area of Hazaribagh had accused Arvind Mehta, posted in Ramgarh, of raping her after entering her house.

In April last year itself, a police constable was arrested for raping a seven-year-old girl in Hazaribagh district. Complaints of sexual exploitation were registered against Inspector Gundeep Kumar posted in Ranchi Special Branch and Inspector Ravi Ranjan of Baharagora police station area. h

A girl from Ichaak in Jaribagh district had lodged an FIR against an inspector named Anil Kumar for raping her. A girl from Shikaripada in Dumka accused Inspector Mohan Marandi of Balliapur police station in Dhanbad of sexual exploitation. Similarly, a sergeant posted in Hazaribagh was arrested by the police and sent to jail on charges of sexual exploitation on the pretext of marriage.

Deori police station in-charge of Giridih district Gaurav Kumar was also arrested on charges of sexual exploitation on the pretext of marriage.
