Open pit filled with water, innocent child dies due to drowning

Rajnandgaon. Collector Doman Singh has taken immediate cognizance of the incident of death of village boy Bharat and father Satish Kanwar due to drowning in an open pit behind the Anganwadi center on November 22 in village Aasra of Dongargaon development block. The Collector has instructed the Sub-Divisional Officer Revenue Dongargaon to conduct an investigation in this regard and submit a report. The existence of an open pit behind the Anganwadi center is extremely objectionable and on prima facie examination of the incident, it reflects gross negligence on the part of Anganwadi worker Anganwadi Center Aasra Mrs. Anusuiya Kariyam regarding her duties.
For this, the services of Anganwadi worker Anusuiya Kariyam have been suspended till further orders and initially Secretary Gram Panchayat Aasra Shri Kishan Koliara has been suspended. Show cause notice has been issued to Project Officer Virendra Kumar Sahu and Supervisor Lakshmi Sonkar of Integrated Child Development Project Dongargaon. On the instructions of the Collector, the Panchayat has also been taken under investigation. On receiving the report, strict action will be taken in the Panchayat also. Sub-divisional Revenue Officer Dongargaon said that an investigating officer has been made in connection with the open pit behind the Anganwadi centre.
