Opposition protested against suspension of MPs in Goa
Panaji: Leaders and supporters of opposition parties in Goa protested against the suspension of MPs in Parliament on Friday.
On this occasion, opposition leader Yuri Alemao said, “BJP workers burnt the effigy of Rahul Gandhi, but they will never succeed in erasing his ‘Idea of India’.”
“Rahul Gandhi is a staunch follower of truth, unity, communal harmony and democracy. He carried forward the legacy of great leaders who made sacrifices to keep India united and strong,” he said.
Alemao condemned the BJP government’s action of suspending the MPs.
State Congress President Amit Patkar said that the BJP government is trying to suppress the voice of the people. He condemned the local BJP unit’s act of burning the effigy of Rahul Gandhi in the presence of two cabinet ministers.
Congress MLA Carlos Ferreira demanded action against the BJP MP who issued passes to two accused who breached security and entered Parliament.
He also said that the amendments to the criminal laws passed by Parliament are harsh.
State NCP president and former minister Jose Philip D’Souza said that the BJP has been stunned by the formation of the India Block. He said, “This alliance will defeat BJP in the coming elections.”
Trinamool Congress official Tanoj Adwalpalkar also condemned the suspension of the MPs and said the united opposition will work to protect democracy.
