Orange alert issued for rain in Uttarakhand
Dehradun (IANS) | Heavy rain, lightning, hailstorm and strong winds with a speed of 80 kilometers per hour can occur for two days on Sunday and Monday in the plains of Uttarakhand. There is hope of respite from the scorching heat after the weather changes. The Meteorological Center has issued an orange alert for the entire state including Dehradun.
Monsoon has not yet arrived in Uttarakhand, but after reaching pre-monsoon and Gujarat, the effect of Biporjoy can be seen in the states of North India. Heavy rain, lightning, hailstorm and strong winds with a speed of 80 kilometers per hour can occur for two days on Sunday and Monday in the plains of Uttarakhand.
The maximum temperature of Udham Singh Nagar was recorded three notches above normal at 38.6°C and the minimum temperature at 25.9°C, two notches above normal. The maximum temperature of New Tehri was recorded two notches above normal at 28.9 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature was 16.8 degree Celsius. Apart from this, in the low-lying areas of Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pauri, Tehri, Uttarkashi, the heat caused intense sunlight throughout the day.
Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, said that there is a possibility of rain, lightning, hailstorm and strong winds at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour in most areas of the state on Sunday. In view of the changing mood of the weather, Orange Alert has been issued on Sunday and Monday and Yellow Alert for three days thereafter. The indirect effect of cyclonic storm Viparjoy can also be seen in Uttarakhand. The cyclonic storm has moved ahead after hitting the coastal areas of Gujarat.
