Palnagdevi has been appointed as the DGP of the Tamil Nadu Intelligence Division.

Tamil Nadu: P. Balanagadevi has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) of the Intelligence Division of the Tamil Nadu Police Department.
On Saturday, P. Balanagadevi was appointed as the DGP of Intelligence—one of the most powerful positions within the Tamil Nadu Police Department. Balanagadevi, who previously served as the DGP of the Economic Offences Wing, has now been transferred to the post of DGP (Intelligence). An order to this effect was issued by Dheeraj Kumar, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. This marks the first time that a female IPS officer has been appointed as the DGP of the Intelligence Division of the Tamil Nadu Police Department.
The post of DGP of the Tamil Nadu Intelligence Department had remained vacant for a considerable period. Officers holding the ranks of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and Inspector General (IG) within the Intelligence Department had been discharging the duties of the DGP. It is noteworthy that while Balanagadevi has been appointed to the rank of DGP, no appointment has currently been made to the post of ADGP within the Intelligence Department.
The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued orders stating that Santosh Kumar, the IG of the Economic Offences Wing, will assume the additional charge of the ADGP of the Economic Offences Wing. Similarly, Rupesh Kumar Meena, the IG of the Civil Supplies CID, will assume the additional charge of the ADGP of the Civil Supplies CID.
