Panaji: Meeting postponed till January 15 to discuss no-confidence motion against Mercs Sarpanch
Panaji: A special meeting of Merces Gram Panchayat was adjourned till Monday, January 15, to discuss the no-confidence notice against sarpanch Pramod P Kamat.
The meeting was previously scheduled for Tuesday, January 10. However, Tiswadi Block Development Officer (BDO) Pritesh B Shetty, in a letter to the Panchayat Secretary and Panchayat members, said that due to administrative necessity, the date of the special meeting would not be considered. -On January 9, the confidence motion against the Sarpanch is postponed till January 15 at 11 am.
Eight panchayat members namely Deputy Sarpanch Suchita S Amonkar, Sushant V Govekar, Walter L D’Souza, Assis JM Fernandes, Rakesh E Phatarpekar, Mukesh M Shirgaonkar, Celia V Sequeira and Philomena G Perera have given no-confidence notice against the sarpanch.
Since Kamat is also the president of the Santa Cruz BJP mandal, the eight signatories have expressed apprehension that moves are being made to defeat the no-confidence motion with the help of the government.
