Parents also responsible in student suicide case: Supreme Court

Delhi. The Supreme Court made a big comment while hearing a petition on Monday. The Supreme Court said that it is not appropriate to blame coaching institutes for the increasing suicides of students in Kota, Rajasthan as the expectations of parents are also forcing children to end their lives.

A bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna refused to consider a plea seeking enactment of a law to regulate private coaching institutes in Kota and set minimum standards for them. The apex court said that the problem lies with the parents, not the coaching institutes. Taking note of the facts that around 24 students have committed suicide in Kota this year and the number of institutes offering engineering and medical coaching to students in Kota has increased, the bench said – suicides of students are not due to coaching institutes. Are happening. The bench also included Justice SVN Bhatti.

Supreme Court said- Suicides are happening in Kota because children are not able to live up to the expectations of their parents. The number of deaths could be much higher. The Supreme Court was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Mumbai-based doctor Anirudh Narayan Malpani. The petition held coaching institutes responsible for using children as ‘commodities’ and pushing them to death for selfish gains.
