Pathology lab sealed, patients’ lives were being played with here
Bilaspur: A case of playing with the lives of patients has come to light in the city’s RB Hospital. The pathologist was not coming on duty there for 11 days and her blood test report was being issued using digital signature. The Health Department has sealed the hospital’s lab and issued a notice to the hospital management.
CMHO had received a complaint regarding RB Hospital located on Ring Road. He sent a team here along with Dr. Anil Srivastava, in-charge of the Nursing Home Act, for investigation. During investigation, the team found that test reports of blood, urine etc. of patients were being issued daily. The digital signature of hospital pathologist Dr. Meera Goyal was being shown in the report. The hospital management found that Dr. Goyal had been on leave for several days. Here the hospital management kept claiming that she was coming daily and signing the reports. The health department team examined the CCTV footage of the hospital. It came to light that Dr. Goyal had not come to the hospital after October 8. Hospital employees Ashok Pandey, Sunil Dewangan and Ashish Nirmalkar are preparing the report together and the digital signature of the doctor is being included in the report through the computer. After this fraud was detected, the doctors have sealed the pathology lab and sought answers from the hospital management. Investigation also revealed that the three employees working in the lab were not registered with the Paramedical Council. A reply has been sought from the hospital on this also.
