Payment of claim amount under Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme in Rabi 2022-23

According to the provisions of the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme, the Crop Insurance Scheme has been implemented with the aim of providing support to the farmers in case of loss in crop production, inability to sow, disruption of planting, loss due to adverse weather conditions and local calamities. . Under this scheme, the government provides insurance cover to farmers in case their crops fail. In case of crop failure, insurance claim amount is given to the farmers. The main objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to the farmers suffering from crop loss due to natural disaster. So that farmers can be encouraged to adopt new and modern farming methods and their income can be stabilized and continuity in their farming can be ensured. Under this scheme, the government provides different amounts of money to the farmers for the loss of crops. The claim calculation for the final payment is done on the basis of the data of average yield obtained from the minimum mandatory number of crop harvesting experiments determined by the Commissioner of Land Records, Government of Chhattisgarh, in the notified area and for the notified crops and as per the eligibility, the claim amount is deposited by the insurance company in the bank. Through this, it is transferred to the accounts of the farmers. Deputy Director Agriculture Shri Nageshwar Lal Pandey said that 72 thousand 480 farmers had got insurance for Rabi year 2022-23 in the district. In which the claim amount of Rs 5145.45 lakh has been calculated for 43 thousand 22 eligible farmers.
In development blocks Dongargaon and Dongargarh, Rabi crops were insured in 5431.68 hectares and 24875.49 hectares respectively. Gram crop was insured in 537.95 hectares under village Aasra of Dongargaon development block.
On the basis of calculation of data received from crop harvesting experiment, the claim payment of about Rs 19000 per hectare was fixed by the insurance company in village Aasra and 131 farmers were eligible for claim payment. Crop damage claim payment by the Indian Agricultural Insurance Company has so far been successfully paid to the tune of Rs 63.57 lakh to 80 farmers (1446 eligible applications), and claim payment of Rs 5.05 lakh to the remaining 51 farmers (130 eligible applications) is under process. Similarly, for Rabi year 2022-23, gram crop was insured in 109.345 hectares under village Manki of Dongargarh development block. On the basis of calculation of data obtained from crop harvesting experiment, claim payment of approximately Rs 10169 per hectare was determined in village Aasra, in which 77 farmers (618 applications) are eligible for claim payment. Update: Successful payment of Rs 9.83 lakh has been made to 49 farmers (553 eligible applications).
Claim payment of Rs 1.28 lakh to the remaining 28 farmers (63 eligible applications) is under process. Under the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme, farmers in the villages of the district are facing problems due to various technical reasons regarding getting crop insurance and payment of claim amount. A total claim of Rs 1187570 has been calculated for 68 eligible farmers in village Buddhubharda under Dongargaon development block, out of which Rs 999232 has been paid and payment of Rs 188338 is under process. In village Kaviraj Tolagaon, claim of 30 eligible farmers has been assessed at Rs 287308, out of which Rs 267158 has been paid and payment of Rs 20149 is under process. According to the information received from Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited, there is a delay in determining the claim amount due to discrepancy in the yield in the gram harvesting results and crop harvesting experiment app. Action is being taken to resolve it at the state level. Similarly, farmers’ bank accounts are closed, DMR account is not there, minimum balance amount is not there in the farmer’s account, erroneous entry by bank, CSC in Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Portal, Kisan Credit Card account is closed, farmer’s bank account is closed due to death. Due to related reasons, payment of claim amount of farmers has failed. Action is being taken to resolve the issue by coordinating with the bankers at the state, district and block levels and transferring the amount to the accounts of the farmers.
