Peddapalli girl excelling in archery
Peddapalli: Coming from a poor background, Thaniparthi Chikitha has participated in competitions at the state, national and international levels and won medals.
Recently he won the gold medal in the 37th National Elderly Games celebrated in Goa. She also won a silver medal in the junior category at the national event held in Ayodhya from November 25 to December 3 and a bronze medal for teams in the sub-junior level event held in Bharatpur, Rajasthan on November 18 and 19.
Chiquita, who will participate in the competitions of the Copa Asia to be celebrated in Uzbekistan in the month of April 2023, is preparing for the trials of the Copa del Mundo to be celebrated from January 10 to 19 in Calcutta. Chikitha, a resident of Sultanpur in Eligedu mandal, started practicing archery in the eighth class in 2018 with the help of his father Srinivas Rao, a farmer by profession.
Attracted the attention of archery shooting fraternity for securing first position in the competition of Federation of School Games held at NTPC, Ramagundam. She also received a silver medal in the individual category and a bronze medal in the mixed category at the Arrows with Arrows Sub-Junior Sub-17 National Championships held in Amravati, Maharashtra in 2021.
It also performed well in the Khelo India Juvenile Games held in Gujarat and Haryana in 2021 as well as Madhya Pradesh in 2022. In a statement to Telangana Today, Chikitha said it was a game of practice with concentration. Therefore, encouragement from parents and the government was more important. He said, his aim is to win gold medals in international competitions.
Chikitha, who studied intermediate level at TS Model School, Garepalli, is the daughter of Srinivasa Rao and Srilatha. The couple also have a son, Jashwant, who practices archery.
Srinivas Rao, passionate about sports, joined Chikitha in archery training at the police training center in Karimnagar in 2019 and started taking her to CPTC every morning, covering a distance of 23 kilometers from his native village. After completing his training, he left school in Naganur.
