People drank crores of bottles of liquor in just 15 days
Delhi. The people of Delhi are going to have a lot of jam on Diwali. According to officials, there has been a huge increase in the number of liquor bottles sold before Diwali as compared to last year. The product department has given this information. According to the data received from the department, last year during the three days before Diwali, 13.46 lakh, 15 lakh and 19.39 lakh bottles were sold respectively. The average number of bottles sold in the two weeks before Diwali was 12.56 lakh.
This time the number is 37 percent more. According to the information, excise department officials said in this regard on Friday that the average number of bottles sold during the fortnight before the festival has increased by 37 percent in the sale of liquor before Diwali in Delhi as compared to the same period last year. An increase of more has been recorded.
According to the data of the excise department, last year 2.26 crore liquor bottles were sold two weeks before Diwali. This year, in the last fortnight i.e. in the last 15 days, 2.58 crore bottles were sold. 14.25 lakh bottles were sold on Monday. This figure increased to 17.27 lakh bottles on Tuesday and 17.33 lakh bottles on Wednesday.
Last year, during the three days before Diwali, 13.46 lakh, 15 lakh and 19.39 lakh bottles were sold respectively. Last year, the average number of bottles sold in the two-week period before Diwali was 12.56 lakh. An official of the Excise Department said that so far this year this figure is 17.21 lakh, which means that if the figures are to be believed, there has been a jump of more than 37 percent. He said that the sales figures for Thursday, Friday and Saturday are yet to come, the numbers will increase further.
