Pep Guardiola praises Kyle Walker amid rumors of him leaving the club
New Delhi (IANS). Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has praised defender Kyle Walker and said the 33-year-old has a genetic quality that is ‘incomparable’ and ‘different’.
For a long time, many such reports came out due to which the rumor was spread that Walker was going to join Bayern Munich. However, the 33-year-old defender decided to remain with the club, opting for a contract extension to continue his tenure.
When Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola was asked how special Walker is to the club, the coach told TNT Sports: “I would say first of all that as a footballer, he has a different quality that everyone else has. Not close. Then there’s his personality. When he talks to his teammates, people listen.”
City lost several senior players in the summer transfer window, including Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan, Joao Cancelo and Cole Palmer. Guardiola admitted that it would have been difficult to see Walker leave.
The coach further added, “Losing him as a player would have been a huge blow. Fortunately, that didn’t happen. After seven years together, we know each other very well. He is a special player and No other player can replace him, he will be associated with the club for many years.”
