PK for identification of ideological support structure of terrorism
Accusing the Government of misleading people on Kashmir situation, Panun Kashmir (PK) today said till the ideological support structure of terrorism is not identified, the soft and targeted killings and direct attack on Army will continue in J&K.
“The targeted killings of two labourers from Punjab in the downtown of Srinagar city by Islamist terrorists should serve as a wakeup call for the Governments in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and New Delhi to come out of its self-imposed delusion of normalcy”, PK chairman, Dr Ajay Chrungoo told reporters here, today.
He said the killings have once again proven that the assessment of the Government about the security situation on the ground is out of sync with the actual reality. “Terrorists have been striking at will both against the civilians as well as security forces”, he added.
“Government has only responded to the situation by claiming time and again one way or the other that there is normalcy before the act of terror and after it, a self- defeating formulation articulated by none other than the former DGP of State police”, Chrungoo said.
He said non-Muslims living in Kashmir Valley and vulnerable areas of Jammu particularly the Hindus are face to face with genocidal terrorism and denial of this has made the Government complicit in the consolidation of crime of genocide. The Government seems to be wilfully ignoring the underlying messages of acts of terror in Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
Churngoo said “Terror acts are genocidal in nature aimed against all segments of Hindus living in Kashmir and Muslim majority areas of Jammu,. Terrorists have the capability to strike at will both against the civilians as well as well fortified security targets”, he added.
There is no cadre dearth amongst terrorist rank and file proved by the fact that they have frequently attacked high risk fortified security targets repeatedly inflicting heavy casualties, he said.
The statistics churned out by the Government from time to time to prove that the situation has improved is self contradictory and unreliable and has acted more to promote disinformation rather than increasing the awareness, he added.
Chrungoo said the threat to Hindus from terrorism is increasing rather than disappearing. Hindus living in Kashmir are like marked pigeons who can be selected for slaughter at will. The policy of defeating terrorism with tourism is actually a policy of using civilians as human shields or bunkers, he added.
Doing business as usual before the act of terror and after it is actually a policy of abdication, he said, adding there is no shift in the policy against terrorism in J&K between previous UPA Government and present BJP Government.
