PM Modi fondly remembers Lata Mangeshkar on her 95th birth anniversary
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi fondly remembered the ‘nightingale of India’ Lata Mangeshkar on her 95th birth anniversary on Saturday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an X post and wrote, “Remembering Lata Didi on her birth anniversary. She will always live on in the hearts and minds of people due to her soulful songs. Lata Didi and I had a special bond. I have been fortunate to receive her affection and blessings.”
Lata didi as she was fondly called by many was hailed as the ‘Queen of Melody’, ‘Voice of the Millennium’, and ‘Nightingale of India’. Lata was awarded with India’s most prestigious award Bharat Ratna in 2001. With this she was the second singer to receive India’s highest civilian honour.
It is worth mentioning that she also appeared in the Guinness World Records as the most recorded artist in history. She was later replaced by her Asha Bhosle.
Lata Mangeshkar died from multiple organ dysfunction syndrome on 6 February 2022, at the age of 92. She passed away while undergoing treatment at the Breach Candy Hospital.
