PM Modi will visit Puducherry on February 16: Assembly Speaker R. Selvam

Tamil Nadu: Assembly Speaker R. Selvam has announced that Prime Minister Modi will visit Puducherry on February 16.
Speaking to reporters in Puducherry on Tuesday, he said: “It has been confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Puducherry. But which projects will he launch? How many crores worth of projects will be launched?”
Chief Minister Rangasamy will make an announcement regarding this. However, we have sent a request to the Prime Minister’s Office seeking approval for laying the foundation stone and inaugurating the new Puducherry Assembly building.
We are planning and preparing to construct a new building for the Assembly at a separate location.
This project is planned at a cost of Rs 657 crore. The central government approved in December 2025 that the funds for this project will be borrowed from the central government and repaid after 50 years, and it will be available at a concessional interest rate.
He added that we have requested the Prime Minister’s Office to inaugurate the work on this project during Prime Minister Modi’s visit.
