Police got big success in busting branch of online betting, one arrested
Durg. Police has succeeded in busting the online betting branch by conducting raids in Goa. Police has arrested another bookie along with 6 accused of betting online. This accused named Mathu Suryavanshi had kept a Bhilai youth hostage in Goa to recover the betting amount. He had demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh in lieu of releasing him. After this the Durg police took action.
Durg SP Shalabh Kumar Sinha said that on August 6, Sanjay Tamarkar, a resident of Polsaipara Durg, lodged a complaint that his 23-year-old son Suyash Tamarkar had been taken hostage. He told that he along with Mathu Suryavanshi, resident of Surya Mall Bhilai and others had gone to Goa to conduct online betting. There was a loss in betting. Therefore, to recover the amount, Mathu took Suyyash hostage on the spot. He called her up and threatened to kill her and demanded Rs 10 lakh. The SP immediately constituted a team and sent it to Goa. Based on the mobile location, the police raided Goa and arrested Mathu Suryavanshi while rescuing Suyash from there. Cases have already been registered against Mathu for online betting.
Durg police first found out on technical grounds, then the location of Mathu Suryavanshi came to Goa. After this, Goa Police was contacted and their help was taken. Durg Police along with Goa Police carried out the rescue operation. They raided Calvado Bypass, De Costa Appartment. The hostage Suyash Tamarkar was safely recovered from there and the accused Mathu Suryavanshi was arrested. After this, the accused was brought from Goa to the transit remand fort.
