Police probe begins into threat of plane crash at Delhi airport

New Delhi (IANS). In a recent incident of fake threat at Delhi airport, Delhi Police has started a thorough investigation. An unknown person called the police on the night of 24-25 July, claiming that a plane was going to crash on 25 July.

The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and started investigation.

The caller said in Hindi, “Tomorrow a flight will crash”. However, nothing of the sort happened on 25 July.

The FIR registered in connection with the incident indicates that the alleged caller deliberately created fear and nuisance among the public by giving false and misleading information, thereby causing unnecessary panic.

After receiving the PCR call, the police immediately took up the matter, which was forwarded to the investigators for further investigation.

“Subsequent investigation revealed that the mobile number used to make the threat calls was registered in the name of Abhinandan Kumar, a resident of Gaya in Bihar,” according to a copy of the FIR accessed by IANS.

Apart from this, the shift in-charge of Dial Security and Vigilance at Terminal-3 of IGI Airport, I.J. James lodged a complaint that he received information about the threat from the Air Traffic Control (ATC) in Delhi through the Delhi Police.

The FIR states, “The caller caused nuisance and fear to the public by giving false information/call to deter the public.”

A senior police officer said, “Inquiries conducted so far have revealed that the contents of the PCR call and the circumstances make out offenses under sections 182, 341, 505 (1) (b) and 507 of the Indian Penal Code at the IGI police station.” A case has been registered under.
