Police raid on junkyards, more than 25 shops sealed
Durg: Police has taken major action against scrap dealers. In fact, Superintendent of Police Shalabh Sinha (I.P.S.) was continuously receiving complaints from the general public and officials of various Industrial Ancillary Associations regarding illegal scrap trade. Taking the above complaints very seriously, action was taken by them in the past also. On receipt of instructions to continuously take effective action against the said businessmen, under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Sanjay Dhruv (R.P.S.), ACCU in-charge along with gazetted officers and all the urban police stations of the district. A joint team of about 22 officers and employees, including 14 inspectors, 20 sub-inspectors, 25 assistant sub-inspectors and more than 80 head constables and constables, was formed and deployed for action.
After making a plan, the said officers/employees were divided into 35 different teams and sent for raid action under the guidance of senior officers at the locations of illegal scrap operators under the urban police station area of the already listed district. As a result, a total of 44 scrap warehouses in the urban police station areas of the district were raided simultaneously, where a huge quantity of illegal iron scrap vehicles were cut up, their parts were separated and stored, centering plate, BSP etc. Bars, iron, angles and industrial scrap were also recovered from some Kavadis.
Raju Mandle was taken into custody after confiscating a truckload of scrap from Raju Mandle scrap shop in Jamul police station. The team took action on the spot by issuing notices to the operators of illegal scrap. In which action under Section 41 (1+4) has been taken on the spot. And their warehouses have been sealed. 15 persons have been detained, proceedings are underway against the remaining, and search for the whereabouts of the absconding accused is underway.
Dozens of scrapyards in the district, including Nadeem, Lalit, Shakir, Pal Scrapyard, Raju Mandle, were sealed. After sealing, preparations are being made to ban all illegal scrap operators and conduct a boundary over.
