Police seized 126 kg of ganja from an abandoned car
Keshakal. Keshkal police has taken second consecutive major action against illegal marijuana smuggling in 2 days. The police recovered 126 kg of ganja after chasing a car coming from Jagdalpur on Saturday night. The estimated value of the seized hemp has been estimated at around Rs 12 lakh 67 thousand. However, the car driver has managed to escape by dodging the police by taking advantage of the darkness in the night. The police have registered an offense against the unknown accused under several sections and are looking for the address. Giving information, Keshkal police station in-charge Vinod Sahu said that instructions have been received by the SP to stop illegal drug trafficking in the area.
In compliance of which the Keshkal police is checking suspicious vehicles daily by installing mobile checkposts in front of Naka Chowk and police station premises. In the same order, the vehicles coming and going were being checked by the police station staff at Vishrampuri Chowk on last Saturday night as well. Then the police force tried to stop the silver color Renault car JH 05 DA 4850 coming from Jagdalpur. But the car driver started running towards the valley at a high speed by dodging the police. Thereafter the said car was chased by the patrolling team. But by then he had parked the car at the bottom of the valley near Imli Mor and ran towards the forest.
On the search of the said car by the police team, about 126 kg of illegal ganja kept in a brown colored packet was found in the seat and trunk of the car. The ganja and the car were seized by the police and brought to the police station. Where an offense under Section 20B of NDPS was registered against the unknown accused and taken into consideration. Station in-charge said that the estimated value of the seized cannabis has been estimated at around Rs 12 lakh 76 thousand as per the market value. At present, our team is engaged in tracing the absconding accused. Soon the accused will be in our custody.
