Preparations for Congress meeting in Karnataka complete, new CM may take oath tomorrow
Bengaluru (IANS) | The Karnataka Congress Legislature Party meeting will be held on Saturday evening to elect a new leader. Sources said the new chief minister is likely to take oath on Monday. The Legislature Party meeting will be held at a private hotel in which all the 135 newly elected MLAs of the party will attend and elect their leader. The party high command will announce the name of the chief ministerial candidate. The meeting will start at 6 pm.
Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, State President of the party D.K. Shivakumar, senior leader M.B. Patil, Shamnore Shivashankarappa, Dr. G. Parameshwara, R.V. Deshpande and H.K. Patil is included.
The party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge has made it clear that he is not keen on becoming the chief minister, but sources say anything can happen. Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar are leading in the race.
Sources also say that Siddaramaiah will be given a chance for the first two years. After this, Shivkumar will become the Chief Minister for the next three years. The party wants to contest the 2028 elections under the leadership of Shivakumar.
