Preparations for elections in the state to commence on August 2 with the preliminary publication of voter list
Raipur. Prior to the Assembly General Election-2023, the process of second special brief revision of electoral rolls is in progress in Chhattisgarh. Under the revision program, the Electoral Registration Officers in the state will issue a notice on August 2 regarding the preliminary publishing of the voter list -under Form-5 and the claims and objections regarding the eligibility date of October 1, 2023. On the same day, the voter list will also be read in the special Gram Sabha. Special awareness programs will be organized at the constituency and district level to make the voter list as accurate as possible. This voter list will also be displayed at the website of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office ceochhattisgarh.nic.in. A hard copy with photo and a soft copy without photo will also be provided to all the recognized political parties after holding meetings at the district level.
Booth level officers will collect claims and objections in the prescribed formats from August 2 to August 31. Special booth level camps will be organized on four days, August 12-13 (Saturday-Sunday) and August 19-20 (Saturday-Sunday), where youngsters who have completed 18 years of age on October 1, 2023, will be able to apply through Form-6 to get their names added to the voter list, application for deletion of the names of dead, duplicate or permanently transferred voters can be submitted through Form-7, and application for any kind of modification in the details of the already registered voter can be submitted through Form-8. Voter Helpline App and Voter Service Portal are also available for filing the aforementioned forms online. BLO app will be used for filling the form by BLO.
Electoral Registration Officers will share the weekly list of claims and objections received till 31st August with the recognized political parties by holding meetings. This list will also be published weekly on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office. After resolving all the claims and objections by September 22, the final publication of the voter list will be done in Form-16 on October 4, 2023. The final published voter list will be displayed on the website as well. A hard copy and a soft copy of the voter list will also be provided to the representatives of recognized political parties at the district level.
Chief Electoral Officer of Chhattisgarh Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale said that intensive programs will be conducted during the revision period to make the voter list error-free. Youngsters and the people of deprived sections of the society will be encouraged to get registered as voters. She informed that currently, there are four lakh 25 thousand 698 voters in the state in the age group of 18-19. The number of voters with disabilities is one lakh 47 thousand 364, and the number of voters from third gender community are 767. The sex ratio of the voter list in the state is 1002 and the voter-population ratio is 64.65 percent. Mrs. Kangale has appealed people of the state to participate in the revision of the voter list and help in making it accurate and free of errors.
