Primary schools in Odisha to be revamped, students to get better facilities

Bhubaneswar: The environment of the primary schools in Odisha is all set to change said reliable reports on Thursday, the facilities shall be better.

A conducive atmosphere will be created for the students. Students will no longer sit on the  ground. Interest for reading will be increased in the minds. This change shall be effected for the first to third graders.

In this regard, the Department of School and Mass Education has made extensive arrangements to bring interest, curiosity and enthusiasm towards education in the tender minds of the students.

Special mats will be put on the floor, students will write on colored decks. In the first phase, it is aimed to involve more than six thousand schools.

A comprehensive system has been prepared to change the environment of primary schools in 16 districts in the state. To make the classroom accessible, attractive and happy for the children, various wall paintings, different shaped decks, cupboards, green boards, display boards, hooks for hanging educational equipment, chairs for sitting, necessary repairs of the classroom, electrification and lighting, arrangements for displaying learning materials etc, will be made.

Funds have been provided for maintenance and repair of basic infrastructure in order to make the classroom environment attractive. This will be very helpful in the educational development of the primary students.

The foundation of education is primary education. The higher education of the future is built on this foundation. The aim of introducing basic literacy and numeracy programs is to strengthen this foundation. The goal is to make every student proficient in language and mathematics.

Special frameworks for curriculum development, engaging learning materials (both online and offline), teacher capacity building, assessment models, etc. have been developed to achieve these goals.

Similarly, Raj Bhavan Higher Primary School was adopted as a pilot project before constructing student-friendly classrooms in the district. All the primary teachers and senior teachers have visited and trained in the classroom developed in this primary school. After providing all the facilities in this school, it is aimed to achieve the desired educational development in the students.
