Private university bus crushes motorist in Ghatikia accident, irate locals stage protest for 4 hours
Bhubaneswar: In a tragic road accident, a youth died after a bus of a private university rammed into his scooter on Tuesday. The incident happened in Ghatikia on Bhubaneswar suburbs on Tuesday.
Following the Ghatikia accident, irate locals blocked the roads and protested demanding compensation for the deceased youth. After four hours the road blockage was cleared.
The deceased is identified as Soumya Ranjan Sahu, a resident of Paikraipur. He was going on his scooter when the bus of the private university hit him from behind.
The bus driver fled the scene along with the bus. Police reached the spot and sent the body for post mortem. The police tried to bring the situation under control and started an investigation.
As the tension escalated in the area, four platoons of police force was deployed in the area and the local corporator Manjulata Kanhar also visited the area.
