Provide package to Taxi operators, transporters: Tony
Taranjit Singh Tony, general secretary of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee and DDC Member of Suchetgarh, highlighted the significant contribution of Taxi operators to the vibrant Tourism Industry of Jammu and Kashmir. The senior Congress leader was speaking at the programme organised by the Taxi Operators Union at Railway Station Jammu. He congratulated the newly elected president Devinder Singh Choudhary and his team of Taxi Operators Union. Tony emphasized that Taxi operators are the backbone of J&K Tourism, enabling visitors to explore the breathtaking and hidden locations nestled in the hilly terrain of the region. “The mesmerizing beauty and cultural richness of Jammu and Kashmir attract tourists from all over the world. However, it is the existence of Taxi services that make it possible for tourists to access these remote areas,” he said and acknowledged the pivotal role played by Taxi operators in facilitating travel and ensuring a seamless experience for tourists. Taranjit Singh Tony also noted the essential role of Taxi operators in promoting religious tourism in J&K. From the revered Vaishno Devi, to Baba Amarnath Shrine, Mahakali Temple at Bahu Fort Jammu, Buddha Amarnath, Nangali Sahib, Kheer Bhawani, Shankaracharya, Shadara Sharief, Peer Kho, and many other sacred sites, taxi operators serve as enablers for pilgrims and devotees seeking spiritual solace. Recognizing the challenges faced by the transportation sector in Jammu, the senior Congress leader urged the government to develop a comprehensive package specifically tailored to support taxi operators and transporters. He emphasized the need for a holistic approach that addresses the unique requirements and concerns of the Taxi Industry in Jammu, aiming to enhance their financial stability and overall well-being.
