Punjab: By-election notification will be issued today
Punjab: Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C informed that the Election Commission of India has released the schedule for holding by-elections in Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal (SC), Gidderbaha and Barnala assembly constituencies. The CEO informed that the gazette notification for the by-elections will be issued on October 18, after which the nomination process will begin. The last date for filing nominations is October 25. Nomination papers will be scrutinized on October 28. Candidates can withdraw their nominations till October 30. Polling is scheduled to be held on November 13 (7 am to 6 pm). Counting of votes will take place on November 23. He informed that the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in the respective districts on October 15, the date of announcement of by-elections, and will remain in force till November 25, when the election process will be completed.
