Punjab: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Gidderbaha Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amarinder Singh Raja Waring have once again engaged in a war of words. Amarinder Singh Raja Waring has represented the Gidderbaha assembly constituency thrice before being elected as the MP from Ludhiana last year. Dimpy on Thursday publicly accused the local Congress-led Municipal Council of deliberately stalling development projects in the town due to political rivalry. “I went to the Municipal Council chairman and asked him not to let political animosity affect public welfare. I also asked him to take credit for the foundation stone laying. But he replied that he would work only on the instructions of Raja Waring.

As a result, six months were wasted. Otherwise, the roads would have been built by now. I am now trying to make alternative arrangements,” Dimpy said. Responding to the allegations on Friday, Raja Waring hit back sharply. Going live on Facebook, he said, “They (AAP leaders) talk of 12 years versus 2.5 years and raise slogans, but the people of Gidderbaha know the ground reality. AAP leaders keep making excuses. The chief minister is theirs, the government is theirs – then why excuses? Works related to Gidderbaha Municipal Council require a resolution, which involves consultation with all MC members and the council chairman. If this process is bypassed, how can any work be proper?” Waring also questioned the status of several projects already announced. He said, “What happened to the promises of Malwa canal work and 15-day sewerage? If I am not wrong, only Rs 70 lakh has been allocated for Gidderbaha town works after the by-election. The CM should fulfil the promises made, release funds and work in coordination with local authorities.”
