Punjab: Computer teachers took out a protest march

Punjab: Computer teachers, who have been agitating outside the District Administrative Complex (DC office) since September 1 under the banner of Computer Teachers Union Punjab, took out a Jago Rally on the main roads of the Chief Minister’s town on Saturday evening. A large number of computer teachers from various districts of the state participated in it. The protesters raised their voice against the alleged false promises made to them by the government. They have also been on a relay hunger strike here since September 1.

The aim of today’s protest was also to create awareness among the people about their demands and highlight the state government’s indifferent attitude towards them. They alleged that like previous governments, the AAP government was also betraying them. They claimed that they have been serving in various schools for the last 19 years but no one ever heard their voice to transfer them to the education department. District president of the union Nardeep Sharma said that the government has not yet given them benefits as per the Sixth Pay Commission. He said that the families of 100 deceased teachers were not even given jobs on compassionate grounds.
