Punjab: ‘Daughters’ Lohri Fair’ celebrated for the 29th year
Punjab: The 29th edition of ‘Betiyon ka Lohri Mela’ was organised by Malwa Sanskrutik Manch Punjab, wherein people from the community celebrated the spirit of togetherness and honoured the daughters of the region. During the event, 125 little girls were presented with gifts such as clothes, toys, sweets and shawls for their mothers, making it a heartwarming occasion for all. Mani Kheeva distributed milk bottles, Rahul Jindal from Hambran presented 125 cans of sweets, Ashok Vermani presented toys and Simmi Kwatra gave suits to the children. Additionally, Mrs Sunder Kaur, mother of Rana Jhande, sent shawls for the mothers of the children.
Sohan Singh Bhakna Memorial Award was given to Gurjatinder Singh Randhawa, Jagdev Singh Jassowal Memorial Award to Ashok Bhaura and Sant Singh Sekhon Memorial Award to Dalbir Singh Kathuria. Apart from the awards, the function also witnessed popular Punjabi singers singing songs in honour of daughters. Prominent social worker Umrao Singh from Himachal distributed Lohri laddus on the birthday of his granddaughter, while the newly married couple Arjun Bawa and Manjot Bawa were felicitated with shawls. The program was organized under the patronage of Chairman Krishna Kumar Bawa, President Jasvir Singh Rana Jhande, Chairperson Simmi Kwatra and President Inderjit Kaur Oberoi.
