Punjab: Local polling activity monitoring system launched
Punjab: The State Election Commission has developed a new online comprehensive application “Local Body Polling Activity Monitoring System” (LBPAMS) to facilitate election officials and general public in connection with Panchayat elections. State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhary said that this is a new step towards modernizing the electoral process in the context of local body elections- Panchayat and Municipal Corporation elections. He said that this step has been taken to ensure free, fair and transparent elections at the grassroots level.
Apart from the Gram Panchayat elections to be held on October 15, the online application will also be used for the upcoming Municipal Corporation and Zila Parishad elections. This facility will display the voter list of all districts online, making it easier for the public to search their details. Voters will have easy access to information including nomination and self-declaration forms/affidavits of contesting candidates.
