Punjab: Nihang Sikh allegedly kills one in Gurudwara on suspicion of sacrilege, 1 arrested
Punjab: A Nihang Sikh allegedly killed a youth at Gurudwara Sri Chaura Khuh Sahib in Punjab’s Phagwara on Tuesday over suspicion of sacrilege, police said. Authorities had earlier said they were investigating further. According to Kapurthala SSP Vatsala Gupta, “…the FIR has been lodged after verifying everything. One person has been arrested and the body has been recovered… We cannot give all the details, we Verifying…”. After the incident, a large number of police have been deployed in the Gurudwara as a precautionary measure. The Nihangs are a group of monks armed with traditional Sikh weapons, who are in charge of protecting the faith and religion of the Sikhs.
