
Punjab: Personnel of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), a special branch of Punjab Police, have arrested a man with two unlicensed .32 calibre pistols and four live cartridges. CIA officials said the suspect, Happy Singh, is a resident of Chahlan Wali village near Arniwala. The CIA team, led by in-charge Rupinder Singh, had set up a naka near Abohar-Killianwali bypass.
The man, who was on a motorcycle, was stopped for checking while he was on his way to Sriganganagar. Police claimed there were reports that the suspect was involved in smuggling of unlicensed weapons. Officials said a case has been registered against the suspect under the Arms Act. He has been sent to police remand and will be questioned further to ascertain from where and from whom he had procured the weapons. The Hero Splendor motorcycle (PB22-Y-1261) used by him has been seized.
