Punjab: Time limit relaxed, Indian mothers leave Pakistani children at Attari border

Punjab: Though the deadline for Pakistani nationals to travel to Pakistan expired on Sunday, some of the stranded nationals are returning to their homeland. An Indian national named Rukhsar from Delhi has come with her four children, who are Pakistani nationals, to drop them at Attari land route and send them to Pakistan. Another Indian national named Ramsha from Mysore in Karnataka has come with her three children, who are Pakistani nationals, to drop them at Attari land route and send them to Pakistan on Monday.
The Indian government on Friday cancelled all types of visas issued to Pakistani nationals except long term, diplomatic and official visas with immediate effect from April 27. The central government decided to suspend visa services for Pakistani nationals after the Pahalgam terror attack. The terror attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam killed 26 people, most of them tourists, including a Nepali national who were brutally shot dead. The incident took place at around 2 pm at Baisaran ground near Pahalgam, a popular tourist town in Jammu and Kashmir. It was one of the deadliest attacks in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack, in which 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were martyred.
