Raigarh District Administration unveils ‘Mitan Centers’ empowering youth to soar higher

Raipur. The 68-year-old district library in Raigarh, has undergone a remarkable transformation into a hi-tech hub, paving the way for a promising future for the region’s youth. Mukesh Chaudhary from Uchhabhitthi village recently achieved an impressive 9th rank in the state’s teacher recruitment exam, attributing his success to the library’s modern infrastructure, developed with the efforts of Raigarh District Collector Taran Prakash Sinha and the district administration.

Inspired by Mukesh’s achievement, the district administration has taken up the mission to fulfil the aspirations of youth residing in remote areas. To achieve this, they have established youth centers, known as ‘Mitan centers’ in the local dialect, in various development blocks across the district. These centers offer students a conducive environment with extensive book collections, free Wi-Fi, and comfortable seating arrangements, providing an ideal setting for competitive exam preparation.

The district administration’s commitment to empowering the youth goes beyond the library’s transformation. The Government Boys’ Primary School in Gharghoda, constructed in the British era, which had fallen into disrepair has been renovated and converted into a Mitan center with the support of NTPC Talai Pali. This initiative not only preserves the historical significance of the building but also offers local youth the opportunity to pursue their dreams. Reena Bante from Gharghoda expressed her gratitude for the establishment of a Mitan center in their tribal area, highlighting the center’s provision of coaching, computer facilities, libraries, Wi-Fi, and a favourable atmosphere for exam preparations.

Similarly, Bhupendra from the Kharsia development block, belonging to the Below Poverty Line category, faced challenges in accessing resources and a favourable study environment. However, the establishment of a Mitan center in Kharsia has rekindled his dreams. Bhupendra commended the center’s provision of newspapers, books, internet access, and computers, which have become indispensable for students striving to excel in their exams.

The transformation of the district library into a high-tech hub and the establishment of Mitan centers in various development blocks exemplify the Raigarh district administration’s unwavering dedication to nurturing the potential of its youth. These initiatives aim to provide equal opportunities, empower students, and equip them with the necessary skills for a promising future.
