Rajnath Singh pays tribute to the victims of 26/11 terrorist attack

New Delhi (ANI): Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday paid tribute to all those who lost their lives in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the massacre.
In a post on Twitter, the Defense Minister said the country will always remember the sacrifice of the security forces who made supreme sacrifice during the attack.
Singh said, “My heartfelt tribute to the victims of 26/11 #Mumbai terror attacks. The nation will always remember the sacrifice of those security personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.”
A group of heavily armed terrorists from Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba had wreaked havoc in the country’s commercial capital on the night of 26/11 15 years ago, opening fire on unarmed civilians at several key public establishments in the city.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Oberoi Trident, Taj Mahal Hotel, Leopold Café, Cama Hospital and Nariman House Jewish Community Centre, now named Nariman Light House, were some of the places targeted by terrorists. Over 166 people, including foreigners, were killed in the attacks. People were killed and more than 300 were injured. While one terrorist, Ajmal Amir Kasab, was captured alive, others were taken out in the final stages of the four-day siege.
In May 2010, Kasab was sentenced to death and hanged two years later in a maximum security prison in Pune city.
The Congress party also paid tribute to the victims of the attack.

Addressing the party, the party said that it has always stood firmly in the face of the enemies.
“We pay our humble tributes to all the martyrs and victims of the horrific Mumbai terrorist attack of 26/11, which shook the entire nation in 2008. We have always stood firm in the face of the enemies, and we pledge to fight all forms of attacks. Terror and threats directed at our country,” Congress said.
Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also took to Instagram to pay tribute to the security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

“Today is the anniversary of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, I pay tribute to those who lost their lives in those tragic attacks and salute the courage and sacrifice of those brave soldiers of the country who risked their lives to protect the country. “Put it in.” Kejriwal said. (ANI)
