Pradosh Vrat 2023: Pradosh Vrat has special importance in Sanatan Dharma. There is a ritual of worshiping Lord Shiva on the Trayodashi date of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month. This fast is being observed today i.e. 19 March 2023, a Sunday. Please tell that on the day of Ravi Pradosh Vrat, along with the worship of Lord Shiva, there is also a ritual of worshiping the Sun God. On the day of Pradosh Vrat, wake up in the Brahma Muhurta, take bath, meditate and wear white clothes.
After this offer Arghya to the Sun God by mixing water, roli, Akshat and flowers in a copper pot.
Then worship Lord Shiva duly in the temple of the house and keep chanting the mantra ‘Om Namah Shivay’ in your mind.
During Pradosh period, bathe Lord Shiva with Panchamrit i.e. milk, curd, ghee, sugar and honey and offer Akshat, sandalwood and belpatra etc.
After this light incense-lamps and offer Kheer and Chafal to Lord Shiva. Finally, after reciting Shiva Chalisa and Lord Shiva’s Aarti, complete the worship.
Ravi Pradosh Vrat Rules (Ravi Pradosh Vrat 2023 Niyam)
On the day of Ravi Pradosh Vrat, devotees should take special care of cleanliness and especially keep the place of worship and the northeast clean.
Do not eat tamasic food like onion or garlic on the day of Pradosh Vrat and consumption of meat and alcohol is also prohibited on this day.
Do not let negative or wrong thoughts arise in your mind during the fasting period and do not quarrel with any elder or younger member of the family.
Getting nails, hair or beard done is also prohibited on the day of Ravi Pradosh fast. By doing this God may get angry.
