Ready to hold assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir: LG Sinha
The vice-governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, said on Thursday that his administration is ready to hold general elections in the Union Territory as long as the Electoral Commission of India so directs.
LG Sinha, attacking certain political leaders for spreading false information about the elections, said that he would abandon Jammu and Kashmir only after successfully conducting the assembly elections.
“Any information that the ICE has requested to J&K regarding the agreements has been sent to us. That said, since this platform has always been given to us by the ICE, the administration of J&K is ready to hold elections”, said Sinha while directing the a conference. , , ‘Samvaad’, organized by Amar Ujala here.
Referring to the democratic processes in J&K, LG Sinha highlighted that the right to conduct assembly elections rests exclusively with the Electoral Commission of India. He also criticized political leaders for allegedly misleading the public.
“My aim was to ensure that the mandate of the nation is established in Jammu and Kashmir and so it is established. That was (my) work and it was achieved”, he said.
“All the main commanders of the terrorist organizations have been eliminated. Those who are still alive will be eliminated soon. There is no room for terrorism here”, he said.
Let us tell you that there is a good coordination between the army, the CRPF and the police. “Our neighborhood is trying to create disturbances here and is causing some incidents. Some soldiers have been killed. We will bring back those casualties”, he added.
As for the Pandits of Cachemira, he recognized the efforts of the government to provide jobs and housing to 3.000 people, but expressed the need for additional measures for their resettlement.
