Ready to take South Africa to ODI World Cup glory: Kagiso Rabada

Johannesburg (IANS) South African pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada has said that the team is gearing up for the glory of winning the upcoming Men’s ODI World Cup in India. He also said that the team is not paying attention to the external noise.

Rabada, along with his current senior teammates Aiden Markram and Andile Phehlukwayo, was a member of the South Africa team that won the 2014 Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup for the first time in the United Arab Emirates. But since bursting onto the international scene, Rabada is yet to clinch a title with the senior South African men’s team.

He said, “All this noise out there about South African cricket and the World Cup…we are not really paying attention to it. Not winning the title even after participating in the World Cup is disappointing… I won’t lie. ,

“I am ready to do it, we are all ready to do it,” Rabada was quoted as saying by iol.co.za. Winning the World Cup is something I would love to do. This is something that every player in the set-up would love to do. Once the team is announced, the only thing going there is to win it.

Rabada, who was last seen in cricketing action for MI New York during the inaugural MCL in the United States, has been working on honing his skills and was recently part of the Proteas camp, which took place in Durban last month. Was.

“We had a camp in Durban, and we just came out of a camp in Pretoria. We see really good things coming out of these camps, and we have another camp coming up just before the series against Australia.

“The (World Cup) squad hasn’t been announced yet, but people are really keen. We can’t wait to go there. Whoever gets picked, I am sure everyone can’t wait to get going and play some competitive cricket. Personally, I have really enjoyed the process. I look forward to continuing the process and staying competitive.

Asked about managing his workload ahead of the men’s ODI World Cup, Rabada said, “It is important to identify rest periods because there is a lot of cricket happening at this time.”

“You don’t want to go into the World Cup overcooked… You don’t want to go into the World Cup or any series undercooked or overcooked. It’s about finding the right balance.”

Ahead of the Men’s ODI World Cup, South Africa will play three T20Is against Australia, before playing five ODIs against the five-time World Cup winners. Rabada, who has 137 wickets in 89 matches, feels that the series against Australia will be an ideal way to see where they stand as an ODI team.

“The way we want to play is challenged; We’ve challenged how we want to be better as a unit. It would be a good exercise for Australia to see where we are, and continue to make changes.
