New Delhi: The United States Embassy in India proudly announced a remarkable achievement, issuing an unprecedented 90,000 student visas to Indian students during the last three months. This surge in student visas underscores the ever-growing educational aspirations of Indian students seeking opportunities in the United States.These statistics further illuminate that nearly one in four student visas issued globally was granted to Indian applicants, highlighting the prominent role India plays in shaping international education dynamics.
United States Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, also emphasized the continuous efforts to enhance the visa application process. He noted a substantial reduction of over 50 per cent in the wait time for first-time tourist visa interviews. He set a robust target for the year 2023, aiming to process a minimum of one million visas, showcasing a dedication to further streamline the visa acquisition process.India and the United States have jointly initiated several measures to facilitate smoother visa processes. A significant development came during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States, where he announced relief for Indian professionals. They will no longer need to depart the United States for the renewal of their H-1B visas, simplifying the visa extension process and fostering stronger ties between the two nations.
