Relatives walked 25 km to save the patient in a wooden cot
Bastar: Recently, an incident showing the mirror to the system took place in Korba district of Chhattisgarh. Here a helpless father had taken the body of his one and a half year old child by bike 70 kilometers away for postmortem. Due to unavailability of ambulance, the father had to carry his child’s body on his bike. One such incident has come to the fore again. The family took a minor girl from Bakavand area of Bastar to Gadchiroli in Maharashtra on a cot for treatment. The family members traveled about 25 kilometers carrying the girl on a cot. The name of the sick girl is Punni Santu Pungti.
This incident happened in Metawada village of Bakavand area of Bastar district. The girl was taken to the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Laheri of Bhamragarh taluka of Gadchiroli on Friday by her relatives. The girl’s family members laid her on a cot and carried her on their shoulders and made the arduous journey of about 25 kilometres.
The senior health officer has claimed that the district administration has ambulances. The number of this ambulance has been shared with the local people, but the village is situated in a hilly area and there are no roads to reach here. Due to this the ambulance is unable to reach the village.
