Remembered Jayalalitha on her seventh death anniversary
Chennai: Former Tamil Nadu minister J. Jayalalitha passed away on her seventh death anniversary on Tuesday. Dozens of soldiers and AIADMK supporters wearing black shirts, led by party leader Edappadi K Palaniswami, offered floral tributes in front of Jayalalitha’s portrait here. Palaniswami, dressed in black, said, “We resolve to again walk on the path shown by Amma to serve the people.” Jayalalitha’s party workers and supporters lovingly call her Amma i.e. mother. BJP single-handedly won elections in ‘cow urine states’: Parliamentary DMK generation controversy Palaniswami is also the leader of opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. “My respect for our leader, who has been a guiding force,” he wrote in a publication on the social network. Palaniswami later visited Jayalalitha’s memorial located on the banks of the Marina along with senior party leaders. Jayalalitha breathed her last on 5 December 2016 after being hospitalized for 75 days.
