Request to stop setting up wine shops in residential areas

Local women on Friday submitted a petition to Municipal Commissioner Sampath Kumar and Excise SI to stop the establishment of wine shops in residential areas of Madhira town. They demanded that the owners who have got new wine shops from December 1st should ensure that they are set up without any problems for the people. They requested that the wine shop licensees be informed in advance and that permission be given to set them up in non-residential areas. Otherwise, they said that they would take the issue to the attention of higher authorities.
