Respiratory problems: Elderly people advised to get vaccinated

Tamil Nadu: Due to the monsoon, respiratory infections and influenza are spreading in Tamil Nadu, so public health officials have advised the elderly and those with comorbidities to get vaccinated if necessary.
Regarding this, they further stated:
Respiratory infections like RSV and influenza are spreading during the winter season. These infections disproportionately affect children and those over 65 years of age. Treatment should be based on the symptoms and severity of the illness.
Therefore, those with mild fever, cough, sore throat, and body aches do not need to be tested. They also do not need the drug oseltamivir. Home isolation is sufficient.
Also, if the elderly, children, pregnant women, and those with comorbidities experience these symptoms, they can take appropriate medication as directed by a doctor.
Those who experience severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, blood in the sputum, and loss of consciousness, should be immediately evaluated and hospitalized for treatment.
He added that it is important for the elderly, those with comorbidities, and those with weakened immune systems to wear masks when in public. He also advised that they can get vaccinated against pneumonia if necessary.
